ORANGE COUNTY HOUSING CONSORTIUM AWARED $1,868,305

Middletown – The U S Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded the Orange County Housing Consortium $1,868,305.00 to fund thirteen (13) projects and programs related to housing and housing services for the homeless. 

RECAP, Inc. in Middletown received $485,784 to continue its Family Shelter Plus Care Program and $65,809 to continue operating the Homeless Management Information System on behalf of the entire Consortium.  The Mental Health Association received $94,356 for its Office of Mental Health Family Housing Program and $244,240 for its Home To Stay Program where 12 families receive rental assistance and intensive case management services.  Crystal Run Village received $133,350 for its Supportive Housing Project and $64,872 for its Office of Mental Health Family Housing Program. 

Emergency Housing Group received $186,615 for continuing support of its Steven Saunders Residence in the City of Newburgh.   Newburgh Interfaith Emergency Housing received $102,234 for its Project Life PLUS program.  Rehabilitation Support Services, Inc. (RSS) received $68,116 for its Adolescent Supportive Housing Program and Independent Living Center of Newburgh received $127,401 for its Scattered Site Program.

Newburgh Community Improvement Corp., a division of Rural Opportunities, Inc. was awarded $75,066 for its Comprehensive Life-Cycle Model Program and Safe Harbors of the Hudson received $157,500 for its Cornerstone Residence in Newburgh.

Additionally, Ecclesia Ministries of Newburgh (Orange County Housing Consortium’s newest member agency) received $62,952 to continue operating the Safe Haven Project serving an average of twenty homeless individuals a night.  

These awards clearly reflect the continuing importance of collaboration among the many service providers in Orange County which has led to the development of many programs providing much needed services to the homeless.
