RECAP/Western Orange County Head Start is a federally-funded program for preschool children ages 3-5 from low-income families. Our aim, and ultimately our mission, is to prepare children for success in school through our comprehensive family program.

HSmtwnUpon a child's enrollment, any health and developmental concerns are addressed and famlies are linked to an ongoing source of accessible care. With concerns met, a child is able to take advantage of our safe, nurturing, engaging, and enjoyable learning environment. The varied experiences provided by the program support the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child. Students are able to gain the awareness, skills, and confidence necessary to succeed in their present environment, and to deal with later responsibilities in school and in life. Each child is treated as an individual in an inclusive community that values, respects, and responds to diversity.

Additionally, Head Start offers the parent the opportunity and the support to grow. With assistance from compassionate staff they are able to identify their own strengths, needs and interests, and find their own solutions.
