wx1According to the the Division of Housing and Community Renewal Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), improving the energy efficiency of homes and changing the way we use energy can save over 20% on utility bills. For those struggling with multiple bills, this savings can make a world of difference.

RECAP's Weatherization program assists low-income families and individuals by reducing energy costs and improving the safety of their homes through repair, modification or replacement. Measures include side wall insulation, attic insulation and repair, repairs to broken doors and windows, caulking and weather-stripping, heating system improvements or replacement, installation of energy efficient lighting, showerheads, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, replacement of inefficient refrigerators or freezers, and  hot water tank repair and pipe insulation.

On-site energy use education provides participants with additional tips for lowering their energy costs.
